ArtDuo: Learn How to Draw ("ArtDuo", "the app") is made by Gyan DataBit ("we", "us"). This policy explains what the app collects, why, and what you can do about it. It applies to the Android app published on Google Play under the package name com.kidsdoodle.learndraw and to the website artduo.app.
The short version: you can learn to draw without creating an account or telling us anything about yourself. We collect the minimum needed to run lessons, two-player rooms and purchases, we do not sell personal data, and ads are never personalised.
1. What we collect
Account details (optional)
You can use ArtDuo without an account. If you sign in with Google, Apple or Facebook, we receive your name, email address and the sign-in provider's user ID. We use these to sync your progress, favourites, coins and purchases across devices.
Drawing progress
Completed steps, finished artworks and your My Art gallery are stored on your device. When you are signed in they are also stored on our servers so you can continue on another device.
Two-player rooms
When you draw with someone, we process the room code, both players' strokes, emoji reactions, the match score and, if you added them, your friend connections. Strokes are sent between players in real time and stored with the finished artwork.
Chat (off by default)
Text, emoji and voice chat only work with friends who joined your room through a code or link, and only after chat has been switched on in Settings. Text messages are relayed through our real-time provider and are not kept on our servers. Voice notes are deleted within 24 hours.
Coins and purchases
Your coin balance and ArtDuo Premium status are stored with your account. For purchases we receive a purchase token from Google Play to verify the subscription. We never see or store card details; Google handles payment.
Device and diagnostics
We store a Firebase Cloud Messaging push token so the app can notify you when a friend invites you. We also collect anonymous crash reports and coarse usage events (for example "lesson completed") through Firebase Crashlytics and Firebase Analytics, with ad-personalisation signals disabled. The app does not request the Android advertising ID.
Photos
If you use the draw-on-a-photo feature, the photo stays on your device. It is never uploaded.
2. How we use it
- To run lessons, rooms, matching and chat.
- To sync your progress and purchases across devices.
- To verify subscriptions and prevent fraud.
- To find and fix crashes and understand which features are used.
- To send notifications you have opted into, such as a friend's invite.
We do not use your data for profiling, and we do not build advertising profiles.
3. Advertising
The free version shows ads served by Google AdMob. We request child-directed treatment for every ad, so ads are non-personalised, limited to a G rating, and never shown while you are drawing. Rewarded videos are optional and only play when you choose to watch one for coins. ArtDuo Premium removes ads entirely.
4. What we never do
- We never sell personal data.
- We never show personalised ads or collect the advertising ID.
- We never upload your photos.
- We never use the microphone except while you hold the record button for a voice note.
- We never share your data with anyone other than the processors listed below.
5. Third parties we rely on
- Google Play for purchases and subscription verification.
- Firebase (Google) for sign-in, cloud storage of your account data, push notifications, crash reporting and analytics.
- Google AdMob for non-personalised, child-directed ads.
- Pusher for relaying real-time strokes, reactions and chat text between players.
Each of these processes data under its own privacy policy and our instructions.
6. Children's privacy
ArtDuo is designed for families and is rated Everyone on Google Play. We follow Google Play's Families policy. Children can use every lesson without an account and without giving us any personal information. Chat is off by default and only works with friends who were invited by a code or link. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children beyond what a parent or guardian provides when creating an account. If you believe a child has given us personal information without consent, email us and we will delete it.
7. Data retention and deletion
- Uninstalling the app deletes everything stored on the device.
- You can delete your account in the app under Settings → Account → Delete account, or by emailing us. Server data is removed within 30 days. See the account deletion guide.
- Voice notes are deleted within 24 hours whether or not you delete your account.
- Anonymous, aggregated usage counts that cannot identify you may be kept.
- Purchase records are kept by Google Play under its own policies.
8. Your choices
- Use the app without signing in.
- Turn chat on or off at any time in Settings.
- Turn off notifications in your device settings.
- Ask us for a copy of your data, a correction, or deletion by email. We reply within 30 days.
If you are in the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom, Australia or a US state with a privacy law, you may have additional rights under local law. Contact us to exercise them.
9. Security
Data is encrypted in transit. Account data is stored with Firebase, which encrypts data at rest. Access to production data is limited to the people who need it to run the service.
10. Changes to this policy
If we make a material change we will update the date at the top of this page and, where appropriate, show a notice in the app.
